Schomberg outlasts Penetang, 3-2Trisan Centre Thu, Nov 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Schomberg Cougars gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Penetang Kings. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Spenser Jones secured the win for Schomberg with a goal in the second period. The Cougars were led by Jones, who finished with one goal. Jones scored 10:47 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Schomberg. Kiefer McIntosh provided the assist. Schomberg's offense rang up 31 shots on Penetang's net. The Cougars struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. Schomberg additionally got points from JP Crescenzi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Schomberg also got a goal from Declan Lampe as well. More assists for Schomberg came via Ryley Egerton, Justin Formenton, and Nicholas Chaykowsky, who each chipped in one. The Kings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Penetang averages 5.6 goals per game. The Kings kept Schomberg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor Ewart made 35 saves on 37 shots. Penetang was helped by Matt Meher, who tallied one goal. Meher scored on the power play 18:07 into the first period to make the score 2-2. The Kings had gotten the advantage when the Cougars' Chris Wilson was sent off for interference. Hayden Cole picked up the assist. Jordan Schwartz also scored for Penetang. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Matt Fischer, who had one.
