Penetang beats Midland 11-8 as Young gets hat trick

A hat trick by Ryan Young was the highlight in Kings' 11-8 win against the Midland Flyers.

Young got on the scoresheet 1:54 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:58 into the first and at 17:19 into the second.

The Penetang Kings were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Penetang surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Kings' offense rang up 46 shots on Midland's net. Penetang surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Kings average 5.8 goals per game. Penetang took advantage of the Flyers' penalties, tallying three goals off of three power play opportunities.

Penetang additionally got points from Hayden Cole, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jordan Schwartz, who also had two goals and one assist, and Matt Meher, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Penetang also got a goal from Jack Scanlan as well. More assists for Penetang came via Kyle Burns, who had two, Ryan Shaw, who had three, Matt Fischer, who had four, and Justin Robinson, Graham Haley APM, Brayden Laurin, Jesse Moreau, and Craig Robinson, who each chipped in one.

Midland kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Martin Lauzon made 24 saves on 32 shots. The Flyers' goal total was higher than their season average. Midland has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Flyers were led by Darren Nesbitt, who registered three goals and three assists. Midland also got points from Nick Heins, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jake Evans, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Midland included Liam Spurgeon, who had one and Cam Russell, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Steven Pickard, who had three and Neal Burgess and Sean Crowe, who each chipped in one.

For Penetang, Dan Hogan was ejected from the game. Marco Colangelo recorded 35 saves for Midland. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
