A stellar performance between the pipes by Gordie Weiss helped the Orillia Terriers defeat the Erin Shamrocks, 3-1. Orillia pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes. The Terriers were led by Jake Shaw, who tallied one goal and one assist. Shaw scored 11:25 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Orillia. Josh Allan picked up the assist. Orillia excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Orillia also got points from Ryan Tucci, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jason Binnie, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Orillia were Marty Lawlor, who had two. Erin could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Shamrocks average 3.4 goals per game. Erin's penalty kill managed to stymie the Terriers' power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down. The Shamrocks found themselves short handed often, totaling 38 penalty minutes and allowing 11 power plays. Erin was led by Chris Grenier, who scored the team's only goal. Grenier scored short handed 10:59 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Erin. The Shamrocks played down a man on Matt Zuliani's tripping. Gordie Weiss made 26 saves for Orillia on 27 shots. Tom Denstedt recorded 25 saves for Erin. For the Shamrocks, Mario DAcunto was ejected from the game. |
