Penetang holds on for 4-2 win against FergusCentre Wellington Sportsplex Sun, Nov 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Penetang Kings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Fergus Devils on the way to a 4-2 win. A goal by Jack Scanlan put Penetang up 4-1 in the third period, but Fergus pulled to within two on Mike Traves's tally 18:43 into the third period. Matt Fischer had two goals and one assist to lead the Kings. Fischer scored the first of his two goals at 10:44 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Penetang. Scanlan provided the assist. Fischer's next tally made the score 3-1 Penetang with 5:18 left in the third period. Penetang played down a man on Kyle Burns's charging. Scanlan picked up the assist. The Kings' offense rang up 42 shots on the Devils' net. Penetang additionally got points from Scanlan, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Penetang also got a goal from Ryan Young as well. In addition, Penetang received assists from Ryan Shaw, who had one and Jordan Schwartz, who had three. Penetang was unable to stop Fergus from sending pucks towards the net, and the Devils eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Ben Roelofson also scored for Fergus. More assists for Fergus came via Patrick Snell, Steven Domenichini, and Dominic Weathall, who contributed one a piece. Adam Redgate recorded 29 saves for the Kings. Penetang incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Fergus' Parker Merkley stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Devils incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
