Early goals doom Orillia, falls to Penetang, 8-2

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Orillia Terriers, which could not recover and fell to the Penetang Kings, 8-2.

Matt Fischer had one goal and two assists to lead Penetang. Fischer scored 3:45 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Penetang. Sammy Gagnon provided the assist.

The Kings made Orillia's netminders to work between the pipes, getting 34 shots and forcing 26 saves. Alyssa Moyer made 12 stops and Noah Leis made 14. Penetang's goal total was higher than its season average. The Kings average 5.4 goals per game.

Penetang also got points from Jack Scanlan, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Nate Archer, who also had one goal and one assist, Gagnon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jordan Schwartz, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brayden Laurin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Penetang also got a goal from Ryan Shaw as well. In addition, Penetang received assists from Hayden Cole, who had two and Graham Haley APM, Kyle Burns, Myles York, and Ryan Young, who each chipped in one.

The Terriers were led by Daniel Lee, who tallied two goals. Lee scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:51 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Penetang. Orillia had taken the advantage when Penetang's Justin Robinson got sent off for roughing. Ryan Tucci picked up the assist. Lee's next tally on the power play made the score 7-2 Penetang with 14:54 left in the third period. Jake Shaw provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Orillia were Wyatt Young, who had one.

Adam Redgate rejected 20 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Terriers totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Orillia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kohl Connor was ejected from the game.
