Forgione lifts Caledon over Erin, 6-1Caledon East Arena Sun, Oct 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledon Golden Hawks relied on the scoring touch of Cody Forgione, who netted two goals, to beat the Erin Shamrocks, 6-1. Forgione found the back of the net on the power play 18:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledon and again while 19:55 into the first to make the score 2-1 Caledon.Caledon was led by goalie Eric Pitcher, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Pitcher certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.03 entering the contest. The Golden Hawks racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Caledon surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. The Golden Hawks stifled Erin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Caledon kept the Shamrocks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tom Denstedt made 29 saves on 35 shots. The Golden Hawks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Caledon also got points from Christian Bonaldi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Caledon also had goals scored by Christian Hauck APM, who had one and Daniel Cafagna, who had two. In addition, Caledon received assists from Kyle Lee, who had two and Jacob Arsenault, Mark Smythe, Patrick Savella, and Steve Zeppieri, who contributed one a piece. Erin's offense rang up 32 shots on Caledon's net. The Shamrocks was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 10 chances with a man advantage. Erin found itself short handed often, totaling 52 penalty minutes and allowing 13 power plays. The Shamrocks were led by Adam Gibson, who scored the team's only goal. Gibson scored 19:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Josh Sguigna assisted on the tally. Team's James Watsonbag and Steven Klomp were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. For Erin, Matt Zuliani and Cameron DeFazio were ejected from the contest.
