Schomberg falls to Penetang in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Hayden Cole gave the Penetang Kings a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Schomberg Cougars when he scored 41 seconds into the extra period.

Penetang came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Kings trailed 3-1 after a goal by Schomberg's John Gage at 16:34 in the second period. Penetang knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Myles York at 17:34 in the third period.

With three goals and two assists between them, York and Kyle Burns teamed up to power the Kings' offense. York grabbed two goals and Burns also added one goal and two assists.

Penetang's offense rang up 38 shots on the Cougars' net.

Penetang additionally got points from Burns, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Penetang came via Brayden Laurin, who had two and Matt Fischer, Craig Robinson, and Ryan Young, who contributed one a piece.

Schomberg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Cougars kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Redgate made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Schomberg was helped by Christian Muenz, who registered two goals. Muenz scored the first of his two goals at 10:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Schomberg. Gage picked up the assist. Muenz's next tally made the score 2-0 Schomberg with 41 seconds left in the first period. The Cougars had gotten the advantage when Penetang's Jordan Schwartz was sent off for too many men. Nicholas Chaykowsky provided the assist. Schomberg also got points from Gage, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Schomberg were Brandon Falsarella and Blake Culley, who each chipped in one.

The Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Taylor Ewart made 34 saves for Schomberg on 38 shots. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
