Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Caledon Golden Hawks defeated the Fergus Devils in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.Caledon saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Golden Hawks made the score 2-0 on a power play goal by Daniel Cafagna at 9:11 in the second period. Fergus evened things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Mike Traves at 3:49 in the third period. Cafagna had two goals to lead Caledon to victory. The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 32 shots on the Devils' net. Caledon could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 27 minutes in penalties during the game. In addition, Caledon received assists from Christian Bonaldi, who had two and Mark Smythe and Victor Piszczek, who contributed one a piece. Fergus forced the Golden Hawks goalie Eric Pitcher to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Devils had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances. Fergus also got a goal from Patrick Snell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fergus were Joshua Schafer, James Murray, and Joshua Machesney, who each chipped in one. Pitcher rejected 35 shots on goal for Caledon. The Golden Hawks registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Caledon, Kyle Lee and Steve Zeppieri were ejected from the contest. Fergus' Alex Elliott stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Devils incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
