Penetang beats Midland 3-0 as Redgate gains shutout

The Penetang Kings used a sparkling performance by Adam Redgate to take down the Midland Flyers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Penetang's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Kings were led by Graham Haley APM, who registered one goal. Haley APM scored 5:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penetang.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:12 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Penetang stifled Midland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings were held below their usual level of production. Penetang averages 5.5 goals per game. The Kings forced the Flyers goalie Marco Colangelo to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Jack Scanlan also scored for Penetang. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Jordan Schwartz and Matt Fischer, who each chipped in one.

Midland could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Flyers put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Midland's offense rang up 35 shots on Penetang's net.

The Kings' Redgate stopped 35 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Penetang totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Robinson was ejected from the game. Marco Colangelo made 32 saves for the Flyers on 35 shots. Midland totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. Team's Cam Russell and Brandon Stratton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
