Huntsville penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of Caledon

The Caledon Golden Hawks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Huntsville Otters shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Huntsville was led by Noah Stevens, who registered one goal and one assist. Stevens scored 5:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Huntsville. Jason Morissette provided the assist.

The Otters excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Huntsville's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Otters average 1.9 goal per contest. Huntsville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Trayvon Henry also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Jake McIntyre and Andrew Cooke, who each chipped in one.

Caledon could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Golden Hawks average 4.2 goals per game.

Caledon was helped by Steven Klomp, who finished with one goal. Klomp scored 4:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. Daniel Cafagna assisted on the tally. Caledon also got a goal from Derek Czech as well. In addition, Caledon received assists from Christian Bonaldi and Nicholas McNutt, who contributed one a piece.

The Otters' Connor Christianson stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Huntsville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Eric Pitcher took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Chris Vellucci who made four saves. The Golden Hawks ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Caledon ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Klomp was ejected from the game.
