Stayner rips Erin, 6-1

The Erin Shamrocks had trouble finding ways to stop the Stayner Siskins, which beat Shamrocks, 6-1.

Stayner was led by goalie Aaron Taylor, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Taylor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.78 entering the contest.

The Siskins were paced by Jackson Clarke, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Clarke scored 10:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Stayner. Quinton Bruce picked up the assist.

Stayner excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Siskins forced Erin goalie Mark Terry to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Stayner also got points from Bruce, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Mac Flewelling, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jeff Hamm, who also had one goal and one assist. Stayner also got a goal from Jesse Anderson as well. In addition, Stayner received assists from Cooper Martin, Kyle Lafreniere, Ryan Hudson, Ricky Darrell, and Derick Robertson, who contributed one a piece.

The Shamrocks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Stayner to score on any of its five power plays.

Erin was led by Chris Grenier, who scored the team's only goal. Grenier scored 14:23 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Stayner. Patrick Reay assisted on the tally.

The Siskins incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Shamrocks' Terry stopped 37 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Erin incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Shamrocks, Wes Montgomery was ejected from the game.
