Alliston rips Midland, 8-2

The Midland Flyers had trouble finding ways to stop the Alliston Hornets, which beat Flyers, 8-2.

Dakota Brooks was all over the ice for Alliston, as he registered two goals in the win. Brooks scored at 16:44 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Alliston and again while 4:09 into the third to make the score 6-2 Alliston.

The Hornets pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Alliston forced Midland goalie Marco Colangelo to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Hornets outdid their season average for goals scored. Alliston averages 3.9 goals per game. The defensemen of the Hornets were also effective in the Flyers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Alliston additionally got points from David Leblanc, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Ben Skuce, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ryan Marks also scored for Alliston. In addition, Alliston received assists from Jacob Tuck, Tanner Dockerty, Andrew Ceolin, Alex Daley, and Nic Archibald, who each chipped in one and Mark ODonnell and Bobby Sloan, who contributed two a piece.

Alliston's defense shut down Midland's forwards for much of the game, and the Flyers got off only 13 shots during the contest.

Midland was helped by Matt Smith, who racked up one goal. Smith scored 8:43 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Alliston. Neal Burgess picked up the assist. Midland also got a goal from Cam Russell as well.

Tyler Brindle made 11 saves for the Hornets on 13 shots. Alliston registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Colangelo rejected 29 shots on goal for the Flyers. Midland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
