Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1    Wed, Apr 24, 2013

The Cornwall Colts' Stephen Johnson scored 14:48 into overtime to beat the Nepean Raiders, 3-2 (OT).

The win by Cornwall clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

In the losing effort, Nepean was led by Cory Durocher, who grabbed two goals. Durocher scored the first of his two goals at 5:00 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Durocher's next tally made the score 2-1 Nepean with 1:02 left in the second period. The Raiders had gained a power play chance when Johnson was whistled for roughing after whistle. Brent Norris provided the assist.

The Colts were sparked by Johnson, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Nepean was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Cornwall did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Billy Ulrick also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Michael Pontarelli, who had two and Carl Belizario, Pietro Antonelli, and Alexandre Gendron, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Colts to score on any of their three power plays. Nepean kept Cornwall's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Piccolino made 32 saves on 34 shots.

More assists for Nepean came via Dalen Hedges, who had one.

The Raiders' Matt Zawadzki stopped 48 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Nepean incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
