Nepean holds on for 4-3 win against Cornwall

The Nepean Raiders survived a determined comeback attempt by the Cornwall Colts on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Brent Norris put Nepean up 4-2 in the third period, but Cornwall pulled to within one on Pietro Antonelli's tally 19:06 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 2-3 in the best of seven series, the Colts face elimination next time out.

In the losing effort, Cornwall was sparked by Antonelli, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Antonelli scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. The Colts earned a power play opportunity when Brandon Belding was put in the box for interference. Marly Quince assisted on the tally. Antonelli's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Nepean with 54 seconds left in the third period. Stephen Johnson picked up the assist.

The Raiders cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Nepean additionally got points from Cory Durocher, who also registered one goal and one assist. Nepean also got a goal from Kenneth Neil as well. More assists for Nepean came via Dalen Hedges, who had two and Tanner Williams, Vincent Llorca, and Philippe Drouin, who each chipped in one.

Nepean was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Cornwall also got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also finished with one goal and one assist.

Matt Zawadzki recorded 32 saves for the Raiders. Nepean incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jordan Piccolino made 22 saves for Cornwall on 26 shots. The Colts incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
