Nepean holds on for 5-3 win against Cornwall

The Cornwall Colts tried to dig themselves out of a five-goal hole, but the Nepean Raiders held on for a 5-3 victory.

Nepean made the score 5-0 on a goal by Kenneth Neil at 12 seconds in the second period, and Cornwall got as close as 5-3 when Michael Pontarelli scored 17:34 into the third period.

The win moved the Raiders to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Nepean stifled the Colts' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cornwall's offense rang up 56 shots on the Raiders' net.

Cornwall also got a goal from Marly Quince as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Anthony Sanniti, who had two and James Edwardson, Pietro Antonelli, Alexandre Gendron, and Mitch Zion, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean's Matt Zawadzki stopped 53 shots out of the 56 that he faced. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jordan Piccolino took the loss and made seven saves before being replaced by Edwardson who made 16 saves. The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
