Cornwall survives Nepean comeback, wins 3-2Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Apr 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Cornwall Colts would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. A goal by Alexandre Gendron put Cornwall up 3-0 in the second period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Kenneth Neil's tally 10:02 into the third period. The win gave the Colts a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Gendron was all over the ice for Cornwall, as he finished with two goals in the win. Andrew Ming also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Marly Quince, who had two and Michael Pontarelli, Pietro Antonelli, Mitch Zion, and Brandon Howes, who each chipped in one. The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cornwall power plays. Nepean forced the Colts goalie Jordan Piccolino to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Nepean also got a goal from Keenan Hodgson as well. More assists for Nepean came via Cameron Yarwood, who had two and Cory Durocher and Brent Norris, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall's Piccolino stopped 43 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ryan Mulder took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Matt Zawadzki who made nine saves. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
