Nepean wins tough contest against Ottawa, 3-2

The game between the Nepean Raiders and the Ottawa Senators was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Nepean emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cameron Yarwood secured the win for the Raiders with a goal in the second period.

Nepean evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

The Raiders were paced by Yarwood, who registered one goal. Yarwood scored 11:15 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. Brandon Watt assisted on the tally.

Nepean also got points from Watt, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nepean also got a goal from Vincent Llorca as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Cory Durocher, Keenan Hodgson, Kenneth Neil, Steven Johnston, and Zach Rodier, who contributed one a piece.

Ottawa stifled Nepean's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Senators' offense rang up 32 shots on the Raiders' net.

Ottawa was helped by Michael Evelyn, who racked up one goal. Evelyn scored on the power play 14:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. The Senators earned a power play opportunity when Stephan Beauvais was put in the box for holding. Chris King picked up the assist. Joey Champigny also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Justin Charbonneau, Chad Millett, and Thierry Gibeault, who each chipped in one.

Nepean's Ryan Mulder stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Charlie Millen made 27 saves for Ottawa on 30 shots. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
