Martin's hat trick boosts Carleton Place over Cornwall, 8-3

The Cornwall Colts could not stop the Carleton Place Canadians' Luke Martin, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-3 win.

Martin's first goal came 3:38 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:24 into the second and at 19:05 into the third.

The win by Carleton Place broke a deadlock and gave the Canadians a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 47 shots on Cornwall's net. The Canadians did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Carleton Place also got points from Alex Globke, who also had one goal and one assist and Christian Weidauer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Alex Frere, who had one and Garrett Moore, who had two. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Larry Smith, Devin Campbell, Luke Kasteel, Lucas Gonu, Brock Edwards, Stephen Bayliss, and Evan Peterson, who each chipped in one and Kevin Dufour, Tyson Stewart, and Anthony McVeigh, who contributed two a piece.

The Colts were helped by Pierre Ouellette, who grabbed one goal. Ouellette scored 6:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Marly Quince provided the assist. Cornwall additionally got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Carl Belizario as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Pietro Antonelli and Khalid Alli, who each chipped in one.

Brendan Oneill rejected 20 shots on goal for Carleton Place. The Canadians registered two goals on two power play opportunities. Jordan Piccolino recorded 39 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
