Nepean boosted by Zawadzki's play in net, beats Pembroke 2-1

Matt Zawadzki stood on his head and made 36 saves to lead the Nepean Raiders to a 2-1 victory over the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

The win gave Nepean a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Raiders were led by Dalen Hedges, who finished with one goal. Hedges scored 18:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Phil Nasca assisted on the tally.

Nepean's offense rang up 31 shots on Pembroke's net.

Kenneth Neil also scored for Nepean. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Cory Durocher and Steven Johnston, who each chipped in one.

The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 37 shots on the Raiders' net.

Pembroke was led by Keegan Harper, who scored the team's only goal. Harper scored 9:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Liam Biard picked up the assist.

Nepean incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Darren Smith made 29 saves for the Lumber Kings on 31 shots. Pembroke incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
