Anthony McVeigh had one point to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 4-1 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears.

The win gave Carleton Place a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Lucas Gonu also scored for Carleton Place. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Larry Smith, Elias Ghantous, Devin Campbell, Stephen Bayliss, and Evan Peterson, who each chipped in one.

Smiths Falls was led by Jeffrey Carroll, who scored the team's only goal. Carroll scored on the power play 18:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. The Bears had gained a power play chance when Campbell was whistled for slashing. Stefano Momesso picked up the assist.

The Canadians' Brendan Oneill stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Patrick Martin rejected 26 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
