The Hawkesbury Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Ottawa Senators held on for a 4-3 victory. A goal by Joey Champigny put Ottawa up 4-1 in the second period, but Hawkesbury pulled to within one on Brett Varrin's tally 11:50 into the third period. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Hawks face elimination next time out. Champigny had a great game for the Senators, netting two goals. Ottawa additionally got points from Luc Deschamps, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Michael Evelyn, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Ryan Collins, Paul Landry, Justin Charbonneau, Ben Robillard, and Thierry Gibeault, who contributed one a piece. Hawkesbury put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Ottawa to score on any of its six power plays. The Hawks were led by Roman Ammirato, who finished with two goals and one assist. Ammirato scored the first of his two goals at 14:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Ammirato's next tally made the score 4-2 Ottawa with 12:04 left in the third period. Hawkesbury had gained a power play chance when Landry was whistled for boarding. Yanik Laliberte provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Ross Kovacs and Francis Landers, who each chipped in one. Charlie Millen recorded 27 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Carmine Guerriero rejected 23 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
