Stratford beats Kitchener 9-2 as O Brien gets hat trick

A hat trick by Shane O Brien was the highlight in Cullitons' 9-2 win against the Kitchener Dutchmen.

O Brien got on the scoresheet 5:46 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:42 into the first and at 1:47 into the third.

The Stratford Cullitons forced Kitchener's netminders to work in net, taking 42 shots and forcing 33 saves. Mario Duscio made 11 stops and Nathan Perry made 22. Stratford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kitchener power plays. The Cullitons found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Stratford averages five goals per contest.

Stratford also got points from O Brien, who also tallied three goals and one assist, Ray Huether, who also registered one goal and two assists, Mike Pleon, who also had one goal and one assist, Steven Dol, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jared Culliton, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brock Reynolds, who also had one goal and three assists. Pat Clifford also scored for Stratford. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Tyson Avery, who had two and Tyler Marchand, Ryan Watson, Brad McClure, and Calvin Thomson, who each chipped in one.

The Dutchmen forced the Cullitons goalie Jesse Raymond to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Kitchener was led by Brett Clampitt, who finished with one goal and one assist. Clampitt scored 4:48 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stratford. Sean Hergott picked up the assist. Kitchener additionally got points from Clampitt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kitchener got a goal from Keli Grant as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Phil Edgar and Aaron Duggan, who contributed one each.

Raymond recorded 32 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Dutchmen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
