Listowel downs Kitchener, 5-2

The Listowel Cyclones won 5-2 over the Kitchener Dutchmen.

Listowel forced Kitchener goalie Nathan Perry to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Cyclones cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Listowel's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

The Cyclones were helped by Colten Pickett, who grabbed one goal. Pickett scored 11:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Listowel. Brett McGuinness provided the assist. Listowel additionally got points from Sam Patterson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Listowel also got a goal from Jordan Skerrett as well. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Caleb Cameron, who had three and David Dalby and Patrick Bell, who each chipped in one.

The Dutchmen's offense rang up 31 shots on Listowel's net. Kitchener was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes.

The Dutchmen were helped by Aaron Duggan, who registered one goal. Duggan scored on the power play 5:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Listowel. A tripping penalty on Brandon McDonald had put Kitchener on the power play. Jared Gilbert assisted on the tally. Brett Clampitt also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Robin Clarke, who had one and Philip Moser, who had two.

The Cyclones' McDonald stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Listowel incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Perry rejected 32 shots on goal for the Dutchmen. Kitchener registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
