St. Catharines squeaks by Port Colborne, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Catharines Falcons escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Port Colborne Pirates.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Johnson Andrews at 3:24 of the third period.

St. Catharines was sparked by Andrews, who registered one goal.

The Falcons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. St. Catharines could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Falcons put an average of five pucks into the net per game. St. Catharines' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 38 shots put on Port Colborne's net.

The Falcons stifled the Pirates' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Catharines also got points from Riley Jakobschuk, who also had one goal and one assist. Kenny Bradford also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Jimmy Sheehan, Matt Melo, Aaron Taylor, Curtis Longland, and Luke Karaim, who contributed one each.

Port Colborne was helped by James Tyminski, who registered one goal. Tyminski scored 7:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Colborne. Zach DeConcilys assisted on the tally. Jordan Warren also scored for Port Colborne. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Michael Sharp, Dayne Phillips, and Evan Huckalo, who each chipped in one.

St. Catharines' starting goalie, Michael Gallardi, made 21 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Josh Rosettani APM, who stopped zero shots. The Falcons incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Pirates' Morgan Hudson stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Port Colborne incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.

St. Catharines registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
