The Buffalo Jr. Blades had trouble finding ways to stop the Thorold Blackhawks, which beat Jr. Blades, 9-1. Greg Cerilli had a great game for Thorold, netting two goals. Cerilli found the back of the net on the power play 10:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Thorold and again while 18:43 into the third to make the score 9-1 Thorold. The Blackhawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Thorold forced Buffalo goalie Cory Sorrento to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The Blackhawks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Thorold averages 3.9 goals per game. Thorold also got points from Ed Creighton, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Tanner Hildebrandt, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Mackenzie McAvoy, who also had two goals and one assist. Thorold also got a goal from Joel Forestell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Robert Bentavegna, who had two, Gabe Ruggi, Kevin Lavoie, Matthew Hoszko, Colt Kennedy, Robert MacFarlane, Joe DiBiasi, and Dan Chudobiak, who contributed one each, and Owen Sobchak and Kelly Barchan, who each chipped in three. Penalties took their toll on the Jr. Blades, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals. Buffalo was led by Joe Johnson, who scored the team's only goal. Johnson scored 5:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Alex Hahn picked up the assist. Evan Buitenhuis rejected 29 shots on goal for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sorrento recorded 41 saves for the Jr. Blades. Buffalo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jr. Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hunter Conboy was ejected from the game.
