Five Champs Crowned!
Date: Mar 14, 2026

Urbana dialed in from long distance in three "AA" tournament wins to repeat as jayvee champions in 2025-26. The defending champs hit a program record 20 three-pointers, downing West Frederick, Ballenger Creek and Walkersville by a collective margin of 62 points in the tourney run.
The Hawks went 15-2 in regular season play, 9-2 in winning the Chesapeake division title for a second straight year.
Urbana avenged a 39-29 regular season loss to Walkersville with a 41-31 championship game victory. The Lions opened the title game looking like they would roll over the Hawks again with outside shots raining by Trey Campbell and Colin Leng to go along with post points from Anthony Wallace. The Hawks struggled to find their composure or any breath of offense and the teams ended the first period with the Lions up 11-4. The break between quarters was just what was needed for the Hawks, who regrouped and refocused to turn the tide. Led by their point guard Julian Jimenez who scored seven points in the quarter and Evan Nwaneri who added five of his own combined with lock down defense, the Hawks erase the deficit and then some taking a 19-14 lead over the Lions going into the half. Coming out of the break both teams showcased the style of basketball that had gotten them to the championship. The Lions used their physical presence and rebounding to get chance after chance, while Brian Hite, held scoreless in the first half, would come alive showing why he was a go to spark plug for the Lions all year scoring six points in the quarter. The Hawks would showcase their ball movement and ability to use the outside threat to get inside points with the Hawks center Aaron Medina dropping in four points converting in the paint. When the dust settled the Hawks had extended their lead to 30-24 going into the final period. Determined to close the gap, the Lions attacked the basket possession after possession but the shots, sometimes half way down, just found a way to not go in and while they connected on 5-of-6 free throws in the quarter the clock was not on their side. The Hawks continued to find ways to counter each run getting timely baskets by Will King and a big three by their sensational shoot guard Jionni Jones to ice the game. The Lions were led in scoring by Brian Hite and Trey Campbell with eight a piece while getting seven from Anthony Wallace who also had a monster game on the glass. The Hawks were led by Aaron Medina with 11, Julian Jimenez with 10, Evan Nwaneri with 9, and Jionni Jones with 5.
