Suns Fall to Squeeze in Series Opener

Winter Garden, FL- The DeLand Suns fell on the road to the Winter Garden Squeeze in the first of a three-game series between the two. In a tight game, two runs from the Squeeze in the bottom of the eighth resulted in a 6-4 victory.

 

The Suns would take an early lead, going up 4-0 in the top of the second. These runs came from an RBI double from Holden Brauner (undecided), Osmin Melendez (undecided) drawing a walk with the bases loaded,

Joshua Valente of Brewton Parker getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Michael O'Brien of Kaskaskia Community College allowing Jesus Rodriguez (undecided) to reach home on a fielder’s choice.

 

The Squeeze would go onto score three run in the bottom of the second and tie the game in the fourth before taking the lead in the eighth.

 

The Suns will return to action on Friday, July 11. The team will rematch the Squeeze at Horizon High School, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
