Holyoke, MA - Valley Blue Sox Left Fielder Sebastian Mexico, had himself a day at Mackenzie Stadium. He went two for five with two RBIs on the day. The left fielder hit a single, a ground out RBI and a double. Mexico leads the New England Collegiate Baseball League in RBIs with 23 on the season. His impressive batting average of .345 ranks fifth in the NECBL.

The Templeton, MA native spent two summers in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. In the summer of 2022 he was on the Worcester Bravehearts and in 2024 was on the Brockton Rox.

The left fielder has played quite a bit of college ball as well. Mexico spent two years with the Fordham Rams in 2022 and 2023. There he batted .245 with 67 hits, three homers, 34 RBIs and eight stolen bases. He did not play in the 2024 NCAA Season. In the spring of 2025 he joined the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and had a dominant season. The Templeton native batted .315 with 57 hits, 12 home runs, 57 RBIs and 23 walks for the Bulldogs.

Blue Sox Head Coach Endy Morales has been impressed with the left fielder’s play. “[Mexico’s] mentality is that it doesn’t always have to be pretty,” Morales said. “We know he can smash the ball everywhere, but also just bat to ball puts pressure on the defense so I think he has a good understanding of that.”

Morales also mentioned the importance of Mexico’s confidence. “He goes [up to the plate] with a lot of confidence. If you don’t have confidence, you’re at a disadvantage already. Baseball is the only sport where the offense doesn’t have the ball, so you have to have confidence that you’re still going to be offensive when you don’t necessarily have the ball in your hand.”
