Middle School Scores from Wednesday, 5/1 and Thursday, 5/2
Roslyn Blue 11 - Plainedge 6: Seven different goal scorers put Roslyn off to a hot start, and their deep roster was able to keep the game out of reach as Plainedge started to add goals. Jordan Marcus had three goals, three assists for Spencer Roth. Luke Hite had four points in the loss.
Syosset 7 - POB / JFK 3: Matt Ferrante had five goals and an assist, and Brendan Mitnick stood tall in the Syosset net making 21 saves for the win. Cooper Gallow (Syosset) and Eric Bocian (POB) both had their first goals of the season.
Bellmore-Merrick 6 - Farmingdale 3: Rocco Sampogna's first two goals of the season broke a 2-2 tie at the end of the first half, and Bellmore-Merrick was able to hang in this one with added goals from Wurtzel and Padula.
Middle Country 8 - Roslyn White 4: Michael Cagliano's first of three goals broke a 2-2 tie to end a very competitive first half, and then Middle Country got contributions from Cuomo, Byers and Aravena to remain undefeated. Roslyn got goals from Ohayon (2), Cepler and Fox.
Bellmore-Merrick 6 - POB / JFK 5: Anthony DeRosa and Alex Klonsky put POB up 2-0 at the end of the first half, but Bellmore never gave up. Donovan Butler's third goal of the game gave the Bulldogs the lead, and Luke Tepfer's last minute goal proved to be the difference maker. Klonsky finished with three goals and Caleb Cohen had three assists for POB. The win clinches first place for Bellmore-Merrick.
Roslyn 11 - Smithtown 9: An old fashion roller hockey barn burner that featured 10 different goal scorers and 47 shots on goal. Corey Sadler and Jacob Fischer had three goals each for Roslyn. Brothers Aidan and Ryan Buscarino finished with a combined six goals for Smithtown. It was Smithtown's second straight close finish. A Roslyn win Sunday would clinch first place in Tier 2.
Middle Country 5 - Plainedge 3: Russo Cuomo broke a 1-1 tie early in the second half and Middle Country never looked back in this extremely tight, well played game. Billy Wendel made it a one goal game with under two minutes to play, but Michael Marturiello's second goal of the game was the final nail for Middle Country.
East End 9 - Islip 1: Things were tight for the first 20 minutes with Islip only trailing 3-1, but East End locked up first place with six straight goals to end the game. Six different goal scorers found the back of the net for East End.
Carle Place 11 - College Point 5: Ben Margulies started the scoring with 3 goals and Mason Lofthouse added 4 more to get Carle Place into the win column. Aaron Leach-Wilson and Dom Bizzarro continued their impressive seasons with two goals each for College Point.
Middle Country 7 - Farmingdale 5: Mike Taliercio jumped back into the Middle Country lineup and picked up the game winning goal in the middle of the second half in this great back-and-forth game. Jack Sametsis had three goals for Middle Country. Dante Scibelli had two goals for Farmingdale. Hunter Kinhackl's second half goal was his first of the season. Goalies Gomez and Vevante combined for 45 saves.
Farmingdale 11 - Roslyn 3: Daniel Sattler and Brendan Russo six combined goals helped open up a tight game for Farmingdale. The Dalers scored seven straight goals to end the game.
POB / JFK 8 - Smithtown 3: Alex Klonsky's seven points helped POB get into the win column. Caleb Cohen picked up four points, and Sam Bazarnik had two. Brandon Reidy had two goals for Smithtown.
Bellmore-Merrick 7 - Middle Country 3: Michael Marturiello's three goals cut the Middle Country deficit to 4-3, but Donovan Butler's six goals put Bellmore-Merrick over the top. Jack Alvy had 18 saves in the win.
Farmingdale 8 - Roslyn 3: Roslyn's pressure and puck possession saw them dominate big chunks of this game, but Farmingdale goalie Michael Vevante made 27 saves for the win. Anthony Catanzarita had four goals for the Dalers.
College Point 9 - POB / JFK 5: Nick Divittorio had himself a day picking up six goals for College Point, and Julian Marin had 25 saves in an impressive performance. Gavin Botkin had four goals for POB.
Islip 8 - Middle Country 6: Islip overcame a 2-0 and 3-2 deficit in this spirited back-and-forth game. Thomas Ivers broke a 3-3 tie in the beginning of the second half, but Ray Sherwood's third goal of the game made the last few minutes of the game very exciting.
Islip 7 - Carle Place 4: Connor King's 30 saves helped Carle Place nearly overcome a 5-0 deficit with an impressive effort from Colin Hoisik and Carle Place. Thomas Ivers, Bryan Slattery, and Evan Lafata had two goals each for Islip. Peter Marazzito added two goals on the weekend.
East End 10 - Middle Country 4: Josh Roland and David Gallo had three goals each for East End while goalies Dom Feiler and Dylan Krpata combined for 47 saves. Jack Rhein finished the season with 35 points in 9 games.
