Entering the 2024 spring semester, the Pioneers are striving and gearing up for a playoff run. The first semester saw the Pioneers have some success displaying signs of potential for a second semester playoff push. That started this past weekend with a split against non-league Division 1 opponent in RIT. The Tigers travelled to Wayne, NJ for a pair of games on Friday / Saturday night. The Pioneers swept the Tigers last year on the road. This year, the teams split as RIT took a hard fought contest on Friday night 3-2 in Overtime. The team received goals from Thomas and George Boyle while Hunter Koch was solid in net making 47 saves.
On Saturday, the team bounced back with an impressive 10-3 win over RIT after feeling they let one slip away on Friday. The team received offensive production from Zach Thompson and Jason Lastra both with a pair of goals and chipping in assists.
The Pioneers defended a lot better as the defense led by Matt O'Donnell, George Boyle, Thomas Boyle led the way with solid goaltending from Cole Mulholland who made 36 saves in the victory.
The Pioneers travel this weekend Friday night to New York City to face long rival NYU. WPU will be back home on Saturday night hosting NYU in a rivalry home/home series. Come out and support your Pioneers this weekend!
