River Dragons Win Second Straight Game!

Alton (IL) A night after their largest comeback win of the season, the Alton River Dragons topped it in a 7-6 win over the Jackson Rockabillys on Wednesday

Jackson built a 6-1 lead after the top of the fourth inning.  The River Dragons nibbled back to pull within  6-4 heading to the bottom of the seventh.

With two outs and the bases empty, Victor Heredia walked.  R.J. La Rocco followed with a single to put two on.  An RBI double by Evan Evola brought the River Dragons to within 6-5 and put two runners in scoring position for Bryce Zupan.

With two outs, and a full count, the longest tenured River Dragon delivered with a line drive ground rule double that jumped over the left field fence.  It plated two and Alton was up 7-6.

Jackson threatened in the ninth as the first two runners reached and with one out had runners had runners at second and third.  However, Dimitri Ivetic got back to back strikeouts and ended the game inducing a ground out to Zupan at first who won a sprint to the bag to seal the win.

LaRocco finished with three hits, a home run shy of the cycle, and had two RBI.

Reliever Scott Detweiler notched the win, retiring the first nine batters he faced after entering the game in the sixth inning.

The River Dragons have won consecutive games for the first time since the season’s opening weekend when they won three straight.
