California’s Kekoa Carroll – A Human Highlight Reel

(Youth1 Baseball) - Aspiring SportsCenter anchor makes plenty of highlight reel plays as youth baseball standout.

Kekoa Carroll wants to play baseball as long as possible. When he's done, the nine-year-old sports fan and standout baseball player from Gardena, California wants to be a SportsCenter anchor.

He could start preparing for that job by practicing broadcasting his own highlights - because there are many.

Carroll is a versatile pitcher, infielder, and outfielder for the Easton Elite baseball team out of Whittier, California. He was named MVP of the 2011 USSSA 7U World Series and has continued to be successful at the plate, in the field, and on the mound. Carroll has a combination of size, speed, and power, especially to the right side, that makes him dangerous.

He works hard at his game, in practice, during the season, and in the offseason. His dad is the fitness director for a large corporation in Torrance and works hard with Kekoa and his brother to train them the right way to help develop as baseball players and athletes. During the season, the brothers love to go to the field and hit with their dad. They also like to train at camps put on by Cal State Dominquez Hills University coach Murphy Su'a, also a family friend.

"They make working hard seem fun," said Carroll, referring to the coaches at the CSUDH camps.

Having fun seems to be the name of the game for Carroll. He takes the game seriously, but makes it fun. He has a passion for the game and also enjoys playing other sports and being a kid. He likes to play football, basketball, and soccer. He likes to play video games and ride his scooter. He cheers for the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

And one day, he hopes to broadcast athletes from those teams on ESPN. Before that though, he has his own highlights to make and maybe if the success continues, he will be on SportsCenter - as an athlete - not a broadcaster.
