Danville (IL)  Behind a spectacular performance from Kyle Athmer, the Alton River Dragons defeated the Danville Dans 5-0 Friday night.

Athmer went eight scoreless innings, striking out nine to match a franchise record.  He carried a no-hitter for the first 6.2 innings and was dominate all night.

His eight innings matches an eight inning start Adam Stilts had in last season’s divisional championship playoff game as the longest in team history.

Tyson Greene finished the game with a scoreless ninth.  In total, the three hits allowed are the fewest a River Dragons pitching staff has allowed in a nine inning game in team history.

At the plate, the River Dragons took advantage of three Danville errors to plate three runs in the sixth.  They added two more in the seventh to ice the game.

Tyler Imbach had two hits, including a two out RBI single.

R.J. LaRocco added a two-run, two-out single in the seventh.

Chase Bloomer reached base three times thanks to two walks and a single.

The win is the first for the River Dragons in five visits to Danville.
