River Dragons Win; Reach Franchise Attendance Milestone

Alton (IL)  The Alton River Dragons defeated the Jackson Rockabillys 11-8, and also reached a significant club milestone on Wednesday at Lloyd Hopkins Field.

With a crowd of 937, the River Dragons surpassed 30k paid guests in the team’s history.  Thus far, 2023 is outpacing each of the first two seasons by a significant margin.

The off field success, was matched on the field this night.  Jake Bockenstedt, his River Dragons debut, allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out eight over five innings.

Erik Broekemeier had three doubles, including two doubles. He also drove in three runs.

Brayden Caskey had two hits.

The River Dragons raced out to an 11-2 lead after five innings. Jackson rallied back with a pair of runs in the sixth and the seventh and it was 11-6.  Jackson scored twice more in the eighth and had two runners on and the tying run to bat with one out.

That is when Alton called on reliever Lucas Johns, who struck out pinch hitter Nicho Jordan and got Griffin Cameron to fly out to center to end the threat.

The River Dragons have now won two of their last three games.
