After winning all of their games in December and taking home third place at the USA-CAN Cup, the Jr Hurricanes continued that trend through January where they won all 7 of their regular season games. This past weekend, the team won back to back games to extend their win streak to 14!

On Saturday, the Jr Hurricanes travelled to Stoney Creek where they took on the Jr. Sabres. After a slow start, Ashley Delahey would get the Jr Hurricanes started with a short-handed goal midway through the first period. The Jr Sabres pushed back with a goal of their own early in the second period but Mississauga would respond with 5 unanswered goals. The game would end 6-2 in favour of the Jr Hurricanes.

The Jr Hurricanes would return home on Sunday morning to take on Bluewater in their final match up of the season. Emma Fulawka got Mississauga on the board first after scoring off of a rebound in the first period. Bluewater would answer in the second period with back to back goals but Charlotte Pieckenhagen would answer right back with a breakaway goal putting the game tied after 2. Pieckenhagen would score once more at the start of the third period with solo effort off of the rush. Emma Fulawka and Taylor Delahey would each add a goal securing the Jr Hurricanes a 5-3 win. Taylor Belchetz posted both wins between the pipes.

The Jr Hurricanes have a big week ahead as they take on their division rival Burlington Jr on Wednesday and then face off against Cambridge and East division leader Durham West on the weekend. The Jr Hurricanes currently sit 2nd place in the West division and 3rd place overall in the OWHL U22 Elite.
