Pieckenhagen Competing for Team Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championship!

Date:  Source: Mississauga Jr Hurricanes

With the IIHF U18 Women's World Championship taking place in Ostersund, Sweden - the Jr. Hurricanes are cheering on forward Charlotte Pieckenhagen. Charlotte joined the Jr. Hurricanes this season and had immediate impact. In August, she was invited to Hockey Canada's U18 Selection Camp in Calgary, Alberta. At the end of camp, Charlotte was selected to play in the exhibition series against the USA. She rejoined the Jr. Hurricanes at the end of August to begin season and has had an excellent first half. In 20 games, Pieckenhagen has 13 goals, 16 assists for a total of 29 points. This puts her third on the Jr. Hurricanes in points and 11th overall in the OWHL U22 Elite.

Charlotte was officially selected to Team Canada's final roster in December. She follows in the footsteps of former Jr. Hurricanes captain Rhea Hicks who won gold with Team Canada this past summer after the world championship was delayed due to COVID-19. Team Canada left for Sweden just after Christmas and currently are 2-0-0 in the tournament. All games are being broadcast on TSN and today Canada takes on the USA at 2:00 PM ET. We continue to cheer Charlotte on and are wishing Team Canada best of luck!
