Cimoroni Wins Gold with Team Canada!

On Friday night, the Jr. Hurricanes travelled to Cornwall, ON and faced off against the OHA Mavericks. Kahlen Lamarche got the Jr. Hurricanes up early in the first period with a short-handed goal and netted another two goals to earn a hat trick. Additional goals were scored by Bo Dean and Ashley Klemens. Jr. Hurricanes net minder, Taylor Belchetz, earned a her first shutout in the OWHL!

On Saturday, the team took on Ottawa Lady 67s at Sandy Hill Arena. Lamarche kicked off the scoring again at the midway point of the first period. The Lady 67's charged back in the second period and tied the game. On a power play in the third period Dean capitalized on a rebound in front of the net to put the Canes up 2-1. Only minutes later, Taylor Delahey netted the insurance goal securing the Jr. Hurricanes a 3-1 victory. Net minder Catherine Hodgins turning away 22 shots on the night.

To cap off the road trip, the Jr. Hurricanes took on the East Ottawa Stars and got off to a quick start with Maddy Nelson scoring 7 seconds into the game and Kahlen Lamarche adding another goal just 20 seconds later giving the Jr. Hurricanes an early 2-0 lead. Adding the scoring later in the period was Olivia Aquino who got her first OWHL goal on a backdoor one-timer. Victoria Damiani rounded out the scoring in the 2nd period with a slap shot from the point.

3 wins put the Jr. Hurricanes at the top of the standings tied for first place. We are back in action on Saturday, Oct 29th at 3:15 PM at Iceland Arena for the 2nd Annual Pink in the Rink game. Proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
