Date:  Source: Prospect Collegiate Baseball LLC

Former Chillicothe Paints standout Ronnie Dawson, who made his MLB Debut earlier this year for Houston, was selected today by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1st round of the 2021 MILB Rule 5 Draft

Ronnie's debut for Houston was on April 14th and he played a total of three games for the Astros. He collected one hit and a walk in 6 plate appearances for a .200 bating average over a three game period, an upside to the .200 average is that Dawson did not strike out in any of the times he was up to bat.

The MILB Rule 5 Draft allows teams to select players who are not protected on a 38-man Triple A-roster (Similar to the MLB 40-Man roster). Rule 5 selections cost $24,500 each, and the amount is paid from the drafting team to the player's former team.
