Utilityman Mike Brosseau is on the move from the Tampa Rays to the Milwaukee Brewers. Brosseau was traded for minor league right-hander Evan Reifert November 13th, 2021.
Brosseau hit .284/.343/.500 with 11 homers over 240 plate appearances in 2019-2020, he looked to be on the edge of becoming a regular in the Rays roster before hitting a snag in 2021. Brosseau suffered an oblique strain in July that hampered progress resulting in a slash line of .187/.266/.347 over 169 plate appearances. Being traded to the brewers hes now in the mix alongside Kolten Wong, Rowdy Tellez, Daniel Volgelbach, and Jace Peterson for an infield position job
Reifert signed with the Brewers in 2020 and posted a 2.10 ERA with an incredible 40.23% strikeout rate over 60 combined relief innings with the Beewers High-A and A-Ball affiliates. Reifert however does have shaky control with a 14.06% walk rate, if the Rays can get this worked out he will undoubtedly be a valuable piece to that stacked Rays bullpen.
