Two Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp Players Honored!

(Peru, IL) 8.25.21 The Prospect League has announced their 2021 post season awards and All Star team roster. Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp southpaw Ryan Eiermann concluded his prolific season by receiving the prestigious Roland Hemond Pro Prospect of the Year honor as well as the Prospect League’s Starting Pitcher of the Year award. Eiermann was the anchor of the Pistol Shrimp pitching staff and racked up multiple Prospect League “Pitcher of the Week” honors on his way to breaking the League’s strikeout record with an astounding 109 strikeouts (and only 29 walks) in 68 innings.

“Ryan had a special summer for us, no question about that,” commented manager John Jakiemiec. “Guys love playing behind him because he works fast, he pounds the zone, and really loves to compete. He’s a great teammate, and has a great future in front of him,” added Jakiemiec.

“I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for receiving these awards,” says Eiermann of his experience playing with his Illinois Valley teammates during his third season with the team. “I would also like to thank the Illinois Valley community for their support of our team this summer, and my teammates for making this summer an experience I will never forget.”

The Pistol Shrimp also had two players awarded All Star honors after nomination and voting by the League’s 16 field managers. Keshawn Ogans from the University of California Berkeley was named All Star Shortstop, while Eiermann was named as one of the six All Star Starting Pitchers. Ogans was a solid and consistent contributor, finishing with a .333 average (11 HR’s, 29 RBIs) and achieving an impressive 20 game hitting streak along with his many successes on the field this summer. “I really enjoyed getting to know and play with guys from other universities, and experiencing a part of the country I have not been to before, '' said Ogans. “The Prospect League is a really competitive league, so to be recognized as an All Star by other coaches means a lot to me.”

The Pistol Shrimp are looking forward to another great season in the Illinois Valley in 2022. If you want to join the fun by hosting a player, or your business is interested in becoming a sponsor or corporate partner, please email: info@PistolShrimpBaseball.com.
