KEY HITS CONTINUE TO ELUDE OFFENSE AS BEES FALL 8-4

Date:  Source: Burlington Bees

Burlington bats continued to remain relatively silent in an 8-4 loss to the first place Quincy Gems Sunday afternoon at Community Field.

After being shut out on the road by the Gems last night, Burlington fell behind early trailing 5-0 after half an inning, 6-0 after two.  Eventually they would score a run in the fifth, two in the eighth, and one in the ninth.  Burlington, who entered the game with the fourth most runners left on base, stranded 13 more in this one.

Bees starter Garrett Moltzan was chased after just a third of an inning, Brady McLain came on to hold Quincy to 3 hits over the next five and two third innings.  He gave up three hits, 1 run, 5 walks and two Ks to the 24 batters he faced.

In his first game as a Bee, Southeastern Community College outfielder Same Monroe provided some help with a 2-3 day.  He drove in two runs and drew a walk.

Burlington will take the day off on Monday.  They travel to Quincy again on Tuesday, before returning home for a single game versus Illinois Valley Wednesday.
