Paints Win Sixth Straight, Sweep Mill Rats 16-9

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, won their sixth-consecutive game, beating the Johnstown Mill Rats Friday at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.

Chillicothe (13-12) built a 7-0 lead after scoring a run-each in the first three innings. They made it 7-0 with a four-run fifth that included home runs from Trey Smith and Ben Gbur, and doubles from Isaac Bair and Alex Ludwick.

Johnstown (6-19) put together a nine-run sixth inning on five hits an a pair of Paints errors, taking a 9-7 lead.

The Paints bounced back with three in the next half-inning, regaining the lead 10-9. 

Chillicothe followed with a six-run eighth inning. Jimmy Allen and Trey Smith each hit a two-out, two-run double. Two more scored on an errant throw to third by the Johnstown catcher, making it 16-9, the eventual final.

Every player in the Paints' lineup collected at least a hit and scored at least a run. Allen and Ludwick both went 4-for-6 on the night. Allen drove in three, while Ludwick hit three doubles, driving in two. Smith also drove in a pair for the Paints. 

Chillicothe's 19 hits, six doubles and 11 walks are all single-game highs this season and the Paints' six-game win streak is their longest of the season. 

Chillicothe returns home to VA Memorial Stadium for a 7:05 p.m. game with the REX Saturday night. After the game, Dixon Jewelers will give away a diamond on the field.
