The Bees couldn’t string together the hits against O’Fallon Hoots as they fell 3-0. The first time the Bees have been shut out this season.
O’Fallon got on Bees starter Jalen Evans right away, getting three hits in the first. They turned into two runs and gave O’Fallon an early 2-0 lead. The Hoots added another run in the 4th on a Jamie Young double and a fielder’s choice
The Hoots came into the game with the league’s best ERA, and they showed why with an impressive outing from starter Tyler Denu. Denu went seven innings, allowed no runs, six hits, and struck out four.
Burlington had their opportunities to strike but couldn’t put together the hits to score. Burlington finished with 11 men left on base. They at least two runners reach base in five innings. Austin Simpson had the best game offensively for Burlington, going 2-3 and got hit by a pitch.
Despite suffering the loss, Jalen Evans still produced another solid outing, going five innings, allowing three runs, five hits, three walks, and had seven strikeouts. Simon Gregersen had a great four innings out of the bullpen, allowing no runs, five hits, and had four strikeouts.
Burlington takes on the Quincy Gems at 2 PM Sunday.
