Memorial Day Tournament!
Date: May 21, 2024
The combination of the new COVID 19 restrictions and the very high volume of HF participants has led to the decision to change our process of creating Jan/Feb Training Team rosters. The most noteworthy aspect will be pausing the two scheduled tryouts and continuing with current rosters for now (with revisions). This means the following...
To be included for Jan/Feb reply to Mario Iglesias - mario74iglesias@aol.com - so we can begin to plan our new teams. Keep in mind that our goal is a return to tournament baseball so we need to be prepared when that time comes!

We are in the tail end of the 2020 season and looking ahead to early 2021. Below is an analysis of the 2020 baseball climate as well as the plan for early 2021 (January & February).
2020 INSIGHTS & OVERVIEW
- There were no local tourneys due to the pandemic
- HF adjusted it’s “tourney teams” into “training teams” that were liberal rosters in terms of age, roster numbers, defensive positions, etc as there was not a strict need for precision in these areas
- HF “teams” practiced and trained twice per week and only paid for training which kept the cost down
- We were able to secure a tourney complex (Mistlin) as a way to explore optional internal game play on weekends and provide a great option for the near future
- Arizona was a destination as a way of playing tournament baseball and players only paid if they traveled
- Nevada just recently opened for possible tourneys going forward
- Other organizations snuck games in locally and were often shut down, though they also often succeeded with summer time games
- Many new players joined HF “training teams” and are now a part of the 2021 planning
- HF held a College Showcase Camp with 10 colleges represented and 60 players throughout the day
- HF held Verification Day and took leaps in terms of the new concept of “Twitter College Recruiting” during the pandemic
- HF held Summer Camps for younger players
- HF saw unprecedented individual development in 2020 despite almost no tourney or game play!
PLAN FOR EARLY 2021
- The HF plan for early 2021 will be known as HF Preseason “Spring Training Games” and will include January and February
- The cost will remain the same but we will be creating new rosters that will be arranged for game play
- The emphasis will be on game play to prepare for the return of tournament baseball
- None of us know if or when high school baseball, little league baseball or local tournament baseball is going to return. This time of the season is their “off season” until roughly March for this year, meaning if HS or LL starts early in some capacity, it is basically operating in a “club baseball” type of scenario.
- We understand the HIGH desire to play games. While local fields close every winter (not to mention darkness, cold and rain), we have secured a private complex in order to play games at Mistlin
- The new HF “training teams” will be assembled with respect to positions as well as general PLAY TIME. This will be a step in the direction of the 2021 tournament teams
- We are still exploring Jan/Feb travel tourneys for those in the program during this time
- The HF Preseason “Spring Training Games” program will feature one weekly practice and then TWO TRAINING GAMES per month. This is a total of 8 practices and 4 games at the same price of $235/month.
- This program is the most comprehensive possible approach to development through game play and preparing for the Spring Season with high school, little league, HF or all of them!
WHAT’S NEXT?
- We will have tryouts as the first step in creating our new training teams for Jan/Feb. This will allow us to see each player and assess which new team they will be assigned to.
