2019 INFORMATION FROM WINTER MEETINGS

The Winter Meetings for 2019 included more than 160 high school families that took the time in the middle of the Winter to learn about what 2019 will bring for the Headfirst Upper Division.  An outline of the information is below for those who could not attend or for those who wish to review the content.  

 

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

            Most don’t know – Important to do homework, closely consider the end goal and be consistent and realistic about the process

            Most aren’t consistent or realistic – Sacrifice and hard work over time, according to the processes that are already established

            Fun – Little League has this emphasis

            Winning – High school has this emphasis

            Development – Long term focus with very little concern with present

            Looks from Colleges – Playing in front of college coaches in hopes of the next level

WHAT IS HEADFIRST OFFERING?

            The BEST combination – Development, fun, competitive teams, college exposure, etc

            Experience – HF has extensive experience in navigating through high school and also the pathway to college baseball

            AN EXPERIENCE – This is the core of what HF offers.  In terms of fun, travel, winning, quality coaching, infrastructure, schedule, cost, etc HF is the leader in providing the BEST overall experience that combines all of those elements!

2018 REVIEW

            HF Showcase Events – HF players showcased in front of 25+ colleges in HF Showcases   

            Travel – UD teams INCLUDED travel trips to San Diego, Reno, Tahoe, AZ, So Cal, Santa Cruz

            San Ramon Show – NEW organization influenced by HF players, management, coaches and more

            New HF Tops – Cardinal with names for identification by recruiters, fans, etc

            HF Honors Teams – In addition to high talent, 16U/18U teams carried cumulative GPA’s of 3.9

            Low Rosters of 14 – NOT A SINGLE COMPLAINT FROM PLAYERS ABOUT PLAY TIME IN ALL UD!

HF UD TEAM STRUCTURE

            Senior Class“Bercovich 35” Collegiate Team – (Click HERE)

            Junior Class “Bercovich 24” – Two teams of 2020 grads – “Split Squad” possibility

            Age and Grade for Bercovich – 14U, 15U & 16U levels will have BOTH age and grade specific teams

Introduction of “Showcase Teams” Individual HF Showcases included in schedule and additional cost applies

            “Blackhawks 44” will be “Showcase Team” -  Blackhawks will go by “Bercovich” Showcase model

2019 SCHEDULE OVERVIEW

            January: 2 events - Schedule posted by December 15

            Summer (Jun/Jul): 5 events (includes TEAM travel) -  Schedule posted by March 15

            Fall (Sept-mid Nov): 5 events - Schedule posted by August 15

  • Any extra non-TEAM showcasing or non-TEAM travel is an extra cost
  • Top heavy schedules for some teams for Summer and/or Fall

TUITION COST STRUCTURE

            Auto pay - Deductions made each month and ALL need to sign again for 2019

            New - Initial fee ($500-600 range) also covers January

UNIFORMS

            HF Cardinal Tops - ALL will use new CARDINAL tops (with last names) and not team jerseys

            NEW HF Black Tops - We will be ordering BLACK tops with last names for Summer & Fall

            NEW HF Black Caps – Finishing touch to the new look for 2019!

            Cost – Caps or tops will be $30 each (not included in Tuition)

ROSTERS

15 max rather than 14 – 2018 max was 14 put too much stress on certain positions and it was not enough to field the level of competitive teams HF wants in 2019!

            “Pitcher Only” options - not included in roster

COLLEGE EXPOSURE

            “Individual” Events -  HF All Star Showdown (June) & HF Fall Showcase (October)

“Team” Events – HF Team Camp (July) & HF World Series (September)

            College Team Camps – St Mary’s, Cal Poly, USF, UOP, UC Davis, San Jose St, UNR     

DECEMBER BASEBALL

            Prepare for 2019 - $200 includes 3 Academy practices and 1 tourney (Dec 8-9 or 15-16)

  • Dec 1-2 weekend off for “Main Tryout”

TRY OUTS

“Main Tryout” December 1: 5pm-7:30 & 7pm-9:30 @ Sycamore Valley Park in Danville

“Make Up” December 8: 6pm-8:30 @ Sycamore Valley Park in Danville

College Coaches – Non Div.1 - Main Tryout (5-6) and Make Up Tryout (2-3)

            $50 cost – Cash or check for those who have not already paid

            Two Tryouts? – The $50 cost is for one tryout and $100 for both tryouts

            Uniform Top – Wear jersey with name on back

NEXT STEPS AFTER TRYOUTS

            JANUARY/2019 placement for HF or Show – Emailed by Monday, December 10

            Accept offer via email – Deadline of Thursday, December 13

            Take care of financial paperwork – Deadline of Monday, December 17 (Security)

            First Auto Pay – January 2 or later

            January Teams – 2019 intro… 10% necessary changes but 90% accurate!

(14U SPECIFIC INFORMATION)

            Dec & Jan – Finishing Fall/Winter play with current teams and rosters

            Jan Tryouts – Early January and will help to set up the following

8th Grade - SPRING teams

9th Grade – SUMMER/FALL UD team

            Spring (Feb, Mar, Apr, May) – 8th graders play and then they are offered SUMMER/FALL UD team

            Summer (Jun/Jul) & Fall (Sept, Oct, Nov) – (Click HERE)

            August – Off month and no “Spring Training”

            Cost – General cost of $375/month but summer is increased price to cover travel - $150 broken up over both months, making it $450/month

            Pay Schedule – Initial fee of approximately $600 will make the monthly cost $300.  This will be adjusted for each season (Spring for 8th graders and then Summer/Fall for all players)
