NYU Hockey’s longtime athletic trainer and friend, Tak Fukunaga, is stepping down from his position as trainer for the Violets after ten years. Tak graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College with Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Exercise Science. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at New York University. Tak has worked closely with the coaches and players, being there at every home game prepared to assist and care for the players be they need it.
"It has been an exciting ten years and truly a privilege working with NYU Hockey. I will continue to cherish the memories and friendships with all the superb athletes, students of great character, inspiring and visionary coaches, and wonderful staff of NYU Hockey,” said Tak, “I wish the team great success in all future endeavors."
Tak has always been close to the team, and while sad to see him leave, NYU Hockey is grateful for the years he spent with the program. NYU Hockey Head Coach, Chris Cosentino put it best when saying;
"Tak has been an incredible trainer and vital part of our staff for ten years. He went above and beyond providing the best care and support for our student/athletes. He has built long-lasting relationships with our students and I can't thank him enough for his friendship and commitment to NYU hockey."
