The Michigan youth hockey community has lost a leader today.
Belle Tire director John Kay (Koslakiewicz) has passed away.
The leader of the Belle Tire program for nearly two decades helped guide generations of hockey players through the ranks.
He was instrumental in the operations of the Tier 1 state playoffs year after year, as well, hosting the tournaments at the Taylor SportsPlex.
"John Kay will sorely be missed by the Michigan hockey community. John was a leader in the Tier 1 hockey community nationwide who was well liked and respected by all who he knew . John did a lot for both Michigan Amateur Hockey and the Belle Tire Organization. I will miss his leadership and friendship. Our thoughts a prayers go out to his family and all the people associated with the Belle Tire organization" said MAHA President George Atkinson.
John Kay beloved husband to Charlene, loving father of 7 children, and grandfather of 9 grandchildren. The untimely passing of John is certainly heartbreaking to everyone.
In addition to being a great family man, John was also very well known in the “Hockey World”, he has been the director of Belle Tire Hockey for over 2 decades. His love and Passion for the game of Hockey were like no other, due to his tireless work and efforts, the Hockey community will never be the same.
The visitation for Kay will be at Wasik Funeral Home in Shelby Township (49150 Schoenherr Road). Days/times:
The funeral will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the same location.
