TRAC ATHLETICS FALL PROGRAMS NOW ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS
Challen Rogers Joins Staff As Head Lacrosse Instructor
Oakville, ON – TRAC Athletics Fall Program registration is now open with a full slate of options to keep your stick in your hands and take your game to the next level. TRAC Atheltics Director Colin Doyle has also announced the addition of Toronto Rock star Challen Rogers as Head Lacrosse Coach for all TRAC Athletics lacrosse programs.
“Challen is an elite player and will be a tremendous asset to TRAC Athletics,” said Doyle. “He has quickly asserted himself as a top tier defender in the NLL and has high level field lacrosse experience as well, having played in the MLL and at the NCAA Division I level at Stony Brook. After leading a lot of instruction in the past year, Challen has shown the ability to coach young athletes and raise the level of their game.”
The Rock Elite League (REL) returns for another season with an exciting new offering. As a division of the REL, TRAC Athletics is pleased to announce the Rock Elite Development League for Tyke, Novice and Peewee aged players. During the nine-week program that begins September 24th, players will be put through skills and drills followed by a full game.
The REL for Bantam, Midget and Junior aged players will begin with the REL tryouts beginning the week of September 11th. Teams in every REL division will have NLL players, coaches and scouts manning the benches. The REL is played under NLL rules with NLL officials presiding over games. The Toronto Rock entries in the annual Jr. NLL tournament, held in late August each year, are selected exclusively from REL participants.
TRAC Athletics P.A. Day camps will begin on Monday, September 25. From lacrosse and floor hockey to basketball, rugby and everything in between, the TRAC Athletics P.A. Day Camps are a fit for everyone. Led by TRAC Lacrosse Coach Challen Rogers, the multi-sport camps are open to kids in grades one through eight. A healthy lunch will be provided. The camps will run from 9am to 4pm with ‘before and after’ camp available beginning at 7:45am and ending at 5:15pm.
Rogers will also lead weekly Elite Shooting Clinics for Bantam and Midget aged players beginning in early October. Over the eight-week program, players will be put through high-energy sessions, with focus on lacrosse skills, understanding of the game and instinct awareness. Players will be taught how to play, think and maximize their own potential in all different areas of the game. Goaltenders will receive goalie specific instruction.
The U13 and U16 Girls Indoor 5v5 program will launch on October 1st and will run for eight weeks on Sundays. The program will be structured as a 5-on-5, girls indoor field lacrosse league. Each session will include 15-minutes of stick work followed by a 40-minute game. This unique game will have teams made up of five players on floor at once (1 Attack, 3 Midfielders, 1 Defender) and players will shoot on custom-made shooter tutors aimed at increasing accuracy. Player shifts will be one-minute long and there will be a 30-second shot clock.
Players can also book one-on-one Rock Elite Academy training sessions with Rogers to work on basic skills such as passing/catching, cradling, loose balls or shooting. For the more advanced players, jump into the more complex skills of the game such as decision-making, no-look passing, backhands and the finer points of lacrosse that build champions. Beyond the one-on-one sessions, group sessions with a maximum of five players are also a part of the extensive TRAC Athletics menu. Sessions are booked on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1pm and 6pm.
With the summer season in full swing, the TRAC Masters League fall session will begin in September. TRAC Masters is a non-contact adult league for men and women (22 years or older) who want to play the fastest game on two feet. Although we accept individuals of all abilities, we have a large number of extremely talented players in this league. This will ensure a fast paced and competitive environment for all players.
