THSCA to Offer Required Concussion Training


 THSCA TO OFFER REQUIRED CONCUSSION EDUCATION TRAINING AT COACHING SCHOOL

 As mandated by HB 2038, the UIL is requiring two hours of coaches’ concussion education training. The mandated coaches’ concussion education course must be fulfilled by September 1, 2012.

Coaches must complete a total of two hours to fulfill the requirement. This may be in one session or multiple sessions. The coach must provide proper documentation of attendance to the ISD superintendent or the individual designated by the ISD superintendent. Two hours of concussion education training is required every two years and must be completed no later than September 1, 2012 and each subsequent two year period.

The Texas High School Coaches Association will be offering this training at the Annual Coaching School and Convention in San Antonio, July 29 - August 1, 2012. Coaches will be mailed documentation of attendance to present to the designated school official.

Sunday, July 29th, 2:00-4:00
PM at the Grand Hyatt Hotel

Monday, July 30th, 1:00-3:00 PM in Room 103 of the Convention Center
Tuesday, July 31st, 1:00-3:00 PM in Room 103 of the Convention Center

Coaches who have registered for coaching school and would like to attend SUNDAY afternoon's Professional Development Workshop: Concussion Symposium at 2:00 PM can pick up their packets at the hotel as in the past. Just send an email to beckyadams@thsca.com with PDC Workshop in the subject area. In your email include your name and member number and we will pull your packet and have it ready for you to pick up at the hotel prior to the workshop. July 20 is the deadline for submitting your emails. We will not accept late emails.
