Denton, TX– The University of North Texas is proud to announce a FREE college recruiting “Super Seminar” for high school athletes, their parents, high school coaches and counselors on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2:30p in the Bahnsen Gym. In addition to the Super Seminar, attendees will be provided up to three FREE tickets to attend the University of North Texas football game vs Florida Atlantic University at 6:00pm(ticket availability is limited.)
The NFLPA Super Seminar is provided free of charge through a joint partnership between the University of North Texas, the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), and the 501(c)3 nonprofit Recruiting Education Foundation, Inc. operators of the FreeRecruitingWebinar.org initiative.
NFLPA Senior Director of Player Service and Development Jason Belser said, “There is a lot of misinformation concerning recruiting, particularly regarding academic eligibility. Given the dramatic NCAA academic rule changes that are going to impact the class of 2016, the process for academic preparedness needs to start now. Our NFLPA Super Seminar on November 8 will serve as a solid first step for any student-athlete with an interest in playing sports at the college level.”
“The University of North Texas is proud to be a partner in this initiative to provide high school recruits a no-strings attached event to be further educated about the recruiting process. We strongly encourage all student-athletes grades 8 through 12 to take advantage of this presentation and get the in depth information that can help them make informed choices not only about their recruitment process but their future in general” said North Texas Athletic Director Rick Villarreal.
THSCA Executive Director DW Rutledge added, “Student and parents alike need to become better educated about dramatic increases to NCAA academic eligibility standards. Today’s generation of high school athletes are also being scrutinized under a microscope like never before. The information our Super Seminar will provide on November 8 will greatly assist today’s young athletes navigate through these uncharted waters.”
